The best time to visit Costa Rica depends on your plans. The dry season runs from December to April – ideal for sun, beaches and volcano tours, especially on the Pacific coast. However, this is the peak season: more tourists, higher prices, and a drier landscape. May to November is the rainy season – green, peaceful and more affordable. It usually rains in the afternoons, whilst mornings are often sunny. Perfect for wildlife spotting and waterfalls. Tip: In July, the ‘Veranillo’ brings a short dry spell with a particularly pleasant climate.
