Upon arrival at San José International Airport, you will be met by our driver who will hand you your travel documents and transfer you to your hotel.

Your first night will be spent in a hotel in Costa Rica’s capital city, close to the city center. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the city on your own. Visit one of the many museums, have coffee in a local restaurant, visit the Central Market, or take a walk in Sabana Park.

Or just relax from the long journey and unwind at your hotel, where you can recharge your battery for the exciting days ahead!

Destination: Tortuguero.

Start your adventure in the morning. Have a cup of coffee before crossing the Braulio Carrillo National Park imposing mountains, which will take you directly to the Tortuguero plain.

In this area, you can admire the pineapple plantations, one of Costa Rica’s most important agricultural exports. You will have breakfast before continuing your journey on the water. Have your camera ready because the boat trip on the river “La Suerte” welcomes you to the rainforest with all its vitality and biodiversity.

Once you arrive at the lodge, you will enjoy a buffet lunch and then hike through the gardens and along the lodge’s paths. Afterward, you will have time at leisure, and a delicious dinner awaits you in the evening.

Destination: Tortuguero.

The day starts very early in the tropical rainforest with the roar of the monkeys; our guide will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby for the first tour: a visit to the canals of Tortuguero National Park. During the visit, the guide will show you various animal species. Binoculars, a camera, and keen senses are essential to discover and capture the best of this natural wonder during the boat trip through the canals. We return to the hotel for a delicious breakfast and free time at leisure.

After lunch, your guide will be waiting for you in the lobby to take you on a tour of Tortuguero. In the evening, you will enjoy a delicious dinner.

Destination: Tortuguero.

Today, we have a delicious breakfast before we take the boat  to say goodbye to the Tortuguero region. 

Once at the jetty, we take the shuttle to Guapiles to the El Ceibo restaurant, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch. Afterward, hotel transportation will take you to the Hotel Guarumo in Guapiles, where Adobe Renta Car will drop off your vehicle.

Now, the “self-drive adventure in Costa Rica” can begin.

Destination: Cahuita NP

Today, after breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel to visit Cahuita National Park. The route through the national park is about 7 km long. It leads through the sector of Playa Blanca into the national park and on to Punta Cahuita, where it passes beautiful beaches.

Your guide will help you observe as many animals as possible, including different species of snakes, sloths, white monkeys, howler monkeys, anteaters, armadillos, raccoons, blue morpho butterflies, birds and many other flora such as medicinal plants, orchids, trees, ferns, bromeliads, etc.

After the tour, enjoy a Caribbean lunch at a local restaurant and then return to your hotel.

Destination: South Caribbean Coast.

The Caribbean offers you an infinite number of activities: 

• Visit the beaches of Cahuita: besides the white beach in the National Park of Cahuita, there is the black beach “Playa Negra” with its great extension to walk and find the best place to sunbathe.
• A walk between Puerto Viejo and Cocles is beautiful and a secret tip. You will find several natural “pools” formed by the exposed coral reefs and can enjoy the waves on a surfboard.
• Visit the Gandoca – Manzanillo Nature Reserve, where the combination of forest, beach, and seascape combined with indigenous culture makes it a paradise. An easy hiking trail leads you to a viewpoint, outside the park coconut water and fresh Pati are sold.
• We invite you to participate in a very authentic culinary experience. Afro-Caribbean cooking classes with Doña Eli will take you on a taste tour of exotic products such as coconut, “Panamanian” chili, ginger, and more. Don’t miss the chance to take home the recipe for one of Costa Rica’s most delicious dishes, rice and beans.

Destination: La Tigra, Alajuela.

Enjoy a tasty breakfast in the Costa Rican Caribbean. In the morning, we suggest you leave for your next destination. You are generally known simply as La Tigra, a small rural town located in the mountains only about 25 minutes from La Fortuna de San Carlos.

This destination, surrounded by lush nature, beautiful rivers, and a small hotel, will enchant you.

Relax in the rain forest in one of the tent-style rooms; in the evening, you can arrange an optional activity such as a night hike or enjoy a delicious dinner.

Destination: La Fortuna

After breakfast, we invite you to drive to the village of La Fortuna where you can do some optional activities such as visiting the 1968 lookout point and enjoy a hike through primary forest and solidified lava that reminds us of the change in natural landscapes after a volcanic eruption. From the viewpoint you will have extraordinary views of Lake Arenal and the lava flows from the 1968 eruption.

We also recommend a visit to La Fortuna Waterfall, where you can refresh your morning in the crystal clear waters of the La Fortuna River Waterfall.

In La Fortuna there are many options for lunch, we recommend you to visit the Selvarustica by Perla restaurant which offers delicious dishes at very good prices.

Destination: Monteverde.

Today the journey continues to the cloud forest region of Monteverde. Monteverde is known for its cool climate, great biodiversity, and, of course, the cloud forest and its inhabitants! From quetzals, numerous frog species, and monkeys to more than 700 tree species; there is much to discover and experience here. In the various nature reserves, many hiking trails invite you to explore.

In the afternoon, explore the city. We recommend visiting CASEM, an association of artisan women who started joining a cooperative in the 1980s to sell their crafts. Today the cooperative has more than 200 members, all from Monteverde and the surrounding area. For some of these women, selling these crafts is their only income.

Destination: Monteverde.

After breakfast, the local guide will wait for you to take you to an unforgettable experience.

Located in the heart of the cloud forest, in a private reserve, this canopy tour allows contact with nature and a combination of activities that will fill you with adrenaline: Tarzan swings nine horizontal shots and one vertical shot (RAPPEL 45mtrs). Climbing the hollow tree, the ficus tree, and other adventure activities. In the afternoon rest in your hotel or visit Santa Elena Reserve.

This morning, we continue to Samara on the Pacific coast! Samara is located on the west side of the Nicoya Peninsula. It is a small and family-friendly town. The beaches of this town, which are still less touristy, offer lovely swimming and snorkeling opportunities.  Make the most of your time in the Pacific and do whatever you like. White sand, palm trees blowing in the wind, and the sound of the waves – it doesn’t get any more vacation than this!

Destination: Samara and Carrillos Beach.

Enjoy Playa Carrillo, it is an extensive beach located in a bay, it is a less visited beach, which makes it a much more attractive and pleasant place.
