Itinerary
Destination: San José
Upon arrival at San José International Airport, you will be met by our driver who will hand you your travel documents and transfer you to your hotel.
Your first night will be spent in a hotel in Costa Rica’s capital city, close to the city center. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the city on your own. Visit one of the many museums, have coffee in a local restaurant, visit the Central Market, or take a walk in Sabana Park.
Or just relax from the long journey and un wind at your hotel, where you can recharge your battery for the exciting days ahead!

Destination: Turrialba.
After picking up your rental car, you will set off for the Turrialba region. Here you will spend the next two nights at Hacienda Monte Claro. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Turrialba volcano and take advantage of the great leisure activities on offer at the hacienda. Coffee tours, bird watching tours, tours of the estate and even cycling and rafting adventure tours are on offer here to make unforgettable memories of your trip! There is something for everyone, young and old.

After your first day here, you will have been mesmerised by the incredible panorama and the wide range of leisure activities on offer.
Use today’s free day to try out the activities that you and the children are particularly curious about. Or simply relax and enjoy a picnic in the surrounding area: there are amazing places to have fun, play and relax in every direction. Also if you are looking for a bit of history and culture we recommend a visit to the Guayabo Archaeological Site.

Today, you’re off to the Caribbean, where the holiday feeling can blossom. You will also experience the full extent of the adventure of driving in Costa Rica! Perhaps with a short detour past the harbor town of Limon, you will continue to the small coastal village of Cahuita. Savor the typical Creole cuisine and, depending on your arrival time, be sure to visit the beautiful beach or the national park – the magic of the Caribbean will quickly cast its spell over you!

Destination: Cahuita NP
Today, after breakfast, you can to visit Cahuita National Park. The route through the national park is about 7 km long. It leads through the sector of Playa Blanca into the national park and on to Punta Cahuita, where it passes beautiful beaches.
You will to enjoy and observe as many animals as possible, including different species of snakes, sloths, white monkeys, howler monkeys, anteaters, armadillos, raccoons, blue morpho butterflies, birds and many other flora such as medicinal plants, orchids, trees, ferns, bromeliads, etc.
Then you can to return to your hotel and rest in the pool or eat something in any restaurant in Cahuita town.

Destination: South Caribbean Coast.
The Caribbean offers you an infinite number of activities:Â
- Visit the beaches of Cahuita: besides the white beach in the National Park of Cahuita, there is the black beach “Playa Negra” with its great extension to walk and find the best place to sunbathe.
- A walk between Puerto Viejo and Cocles is beautiful and a secret tip. You will find several natural “pools” formed by the exposed coral reefs and can enjoy the waves on a surfboard.
- Visit the Gandoca – Manzanillo Nature Reserve, where the combination of forest, beach, and seascape combined with indigenous culture makes it a paradise. An easy hiking trail leads you to a viewpoint, outside the park coconut water and fresh Pati are sold.
- We invite you to participate in a very authentic culinary experience. Afro-Caribbean cooking classes with Doña Eli will take you on a taste tour of exotic products such as coconut, “Panamanian” chili, ginger, and more. Don’t miss the chance to take home the recipe for one of Costa Rica’s most delicious dishes, rice and beans.

The journey continues into the Sarapìqui rainforest, where you will be accommodated in a cosy jungle lodge. Your accommodation is located next to the Tirimbina Reserve, which is committed to education, research and the beauty of nature. Visit the area around the reserve or book one of the many tours on site, as there is a wide range on offer: Night hike, suspension bridges, hike through the reserve or go in search of bats or frogs.

Wake up this morning to the sounds of the rainforest. After breakfast, you will enjoy a adventure day with your family. First you will practice rafting in the amaizing Sarapiqui river. In the afternoon you will visit La Tirimbina Reserve, an ideal destination for learning about ecotourism. You will take a hike to learn about the importance of this reserve and the production of cocoa in Costa Rica.

Destination: La Fortuna.
From Sarapiqui, the journey continues to La Fortuna, a small town located at the foot of the active Arenal volcano. The volcano is one of Costa Rica’s most popular tourist destinations due to its natural beauty and despite its recent lack of activity. In the afternoon, relax in the pool and great view of the Arenal Volcano.

Destination: La Fortuna.
Today you have free time to spend as you wish. La Fortuna offers a varied range of leisure activities. Whether adventurous or relaxed – there is an activity to suit everyone here. Experience the national park on a hike, for example, or take a trip to the La Fortuna waterfall. Make sure you take your swimsuit with you for a refreshing dip. If you prefer something a little more action-packed, you can explore the surroundings by rainforest cable car, bike or canoe. The tours can also be booked in advance – just let us know what you would like to do!

Destination: Monteverde.
After breakfast, the adventure continues. You will head towards Santa Elena, where you will enjoy the evergreen cloud forest’s incredible ecosystem, the quetzal’s natural habitat, and a paradise where, almost 80 years ago, a group of Quakers decided to make our country their new home.
The route will take you to Lake Arenal, which you will circle. This is an artificial reservoir formed after the construction of a dam in 1979, taking advantage of a small lake of the same name. It is a critical point based on the ambitious hydroelectric power generation project in Costa Rica, which currently produces electricity for much of the country.
You will continue to Santa Elena. The scenery will be spectacular, and you may encounter a family of coatis lurking along the roadside. Monteverde is home to one of the planet’s rarest and most unique habitats, the cloud forest, and a fantastic variety of flora and fauna.
In the evening, you will drive to Santamaria Night walk, where a guide will show you the secrets of the Cloud Forest.

After breakfast, the local guide will wait for you to take you to an unforgettable experience.
Located in the heart of the cloud forest, in a private reserve, this canopy tour allows contact with nature and a combination of activities that will fill you with adrenaline: Tarzan swings nine horizontal shots and one vertical shot (RAPPEL 45mtrs). Climbing the hollow tree, the ficus tree, and other adventure activities. In the afternoon rest in your hotel or visit Santa Elena Reserve.

After breakfast, you go to the South Pacific region to Uvita, your accommodation for the next few nights, the Manoas. Playa Uvita is a small village where most housing is built in the mountain rainforest. You have a great view of the Balleno Marine National Park from here. At low tide, you can walk out to sea on the distinctive sandbank shaped like a whale’s tail fin.
From here, you can book a variety of day trips. For example, discover the unspoiled wild beaches of the south, such as Uvita, or take a trip to the mangroves in Sierpe.

If you are up for the hike in Nauyaca, you can head out to Dominical. During this 30-minute trip, you will explore the wonderful nature and the charms of the Barucito River, among them the beautiful Nauyaca waterfalls. Its natural scenic beauty is just the thing for recreation and fun. You can swim in its crystal clear waters, climb, jump, and observe some of the beauties of the tropical rainforest.
The Nauyaca waterfalls are located in a canyon of approximately 80 m wide; one is 45 m high in free fall and the other 20 m high in a staggered fall, forming a pool and other natural pools at the foot of the waterfall. Or you can also enjoy the facilities of your hotel.

Access requirements
Since 11.05.2022, there has no longer been to use for a mask requirement. Entry requirements for Costa Rica are:

To rent a car in Costa Rica, having your driving license and passport with you when you pick up the vehicle is compulsory. Presenting a copy of the driving license or passport is not allowed. It is also necessary to carry a credit card as rental car companies ask for a security deposit. The security deposit amount varies depending on your insurance coverage with the rental car company. Debit cards are not accepted for a security deposit; only credit cards are allowed.
